Assisting neighborhoods as they create sustainable improvements by utilizing the skills and expertise of their own residents.

Now in its fourth year, the Neighboring Now Initiative continues to emphasize the importance of being a great neighbor and helping the neighborhood from the inside out. Our program focuses on long-lasting, community-driven impact. We create sustainable service projects and programs managed and influenced by members of the community. HandsOn Greater DC Cares drives the program by guiding and encouraging neighborhood volunteers to create the holistic change they want for their community. The Initiative is supported by AmeriCorps Volunteers in Service to America (VISTAs).
