Skilled Volunteering Program
Connecting you to nonprofits for high impact capacity building projects.
The HandsOn Greater DC Cares Skilled Volunteering Program allows volunteers to put their professional expertise to good use by connecting them to nonprofits for 2-3 month long capacity building projects. Volunteers participate individually or in teams and dedicate 3-5 hours per week to a project. Projects are usually performed remotely. In the past year, we’ve seen skilled volunteers transform nonprofits with projects in all areas of nonprofit management, including:
- finance and accounting
- marketing and communications
- human resources
- organizational management
- fundraising and development, and
- information technology
The only requirements of skilled volunteers are that they have more than three years experience in the field, devote 3-5 hours per week to the project, and regularly report back to HandsOn Greater DC Cares on their project.
It’s easy to get involved. Click Here to become a HandsOn Greater DC Cares volunteer. Once you complete the 15 minute online orientation and indicate your interest in skilled volunteering, we’ll send you a detailed survey about your skills and interests. We’ll also ask for your resume. Then, we’ll work to match you to an opportunity that will put your skills to work for a local nonprofit.
