On Tuesday, June15 Greater DC Cares hosted the 2010 Business & Nonprofit Philanthropy Summit & Awards at the Renaissance Washington with over 230 regional nonprofit and business leaders in attendance who heard a keynote address from Michelle Nunn, CEO, Points of Light Institute and Co-Founder HandsOn Network. The day was kicked off by Washington, DC At-Large Councilmember Michael Brown, and a Strategic Leaders' Roundtable led by moderators Maxine Baker, Chair, Leadership Greater Washington, and Mary-Claire Burick, Founder, MC Strategy. Attendees were also treated to breakout learning sessions led by leaders from the nonprofit and business community.
The day wrapped up with an awards luncheon that featured remarks from Stan Z. Soloway, Board of Directors, Corporation for National and Community Service, and James H. Shelton, III Assistant Deputy Secretary for Innovation and Improvement, Department of Education; and a keynote address from Michelle Nunn, CEO, Points of Light Institute and Co-Founder, HandsOn Network. But perhaps the most exciting part of the day occurred when Greater DC Cares board members presented five worthy organizations with a 2010 Summit award. On behalf of everyone at Greater DC Cares, please join us as we congratulate the following organizations for their commitment and positive presence in our community.
