Thank You for Making
Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday of Service 2010 a SUCCESS
On Monday, January 18, Greater DC Cares engaged over 3,000 community members in service to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Our volunteers made over 2,000 sandwiches for the homeless, painted hundreds of murals, collegiate logos, and inspirational sayings at schools, assembled 5,000 burn kits, and more. Together our volunteers empowered, improved, and made a lasting impact at 71 schools and nonprofits in our region.
Greater DC Cares extends a warm thank you to our presenting sponsor Target, additional sponsors Accenture, FedEx, Feldesman Tucker, State Farm, Reed Smith, Fannie Mae, and HandsOn - Points of Light Institute, signature sites Bruce Monroe at Parkview Elementary and T.C. Williams Minie Howard Campus. But most of all the thousands of volunteers who dedicated their day off to remember Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr'.s memory through service.
